UNRCPD is the Asia-Pacific Regional Office of the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs, and works to promote peace, disarmament, and non-proliferation in Asia and the Pacific by supporting regional cooperation, facilitating dialogue, and offering technical assistance to Member States. Our Disarmament Education and Youth Outreach programme plays a pivotal role in raising awareness and inspiring future generations to engage in the global movement for a safer, more peaceful world.
Position Overview
The Associate Programme Officer will focus on the Disarmament Education and Youth Outreach pillar of UNRCPD. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to key initiatives designed to educate, empower, and engage youth in the Asia-Pacific region on issues related to disarmament, arms control, and non-proliferation.
This post is temporarily available for 364 days. Extension of the post is subject to the funding source of the position. The selection of this position has no bearing on the future incumbency of the position.

Key Responsibilities
As an Associate Programme Officer, you will be responsible for:
- Assisting in the development, implementation, and monitoring of UNRCPD’s annual work plan on disarmament education and youth outreach.
- Working with donors, member states, and other stakeholders to facilitate programme activities.
- Conducting research and collecting data to support programme evaluation and policy development.
- Drafting reports, background papers, and other written outputs on emerging issues and programme progress.
- Supporting the development of outreach and educational tools aimed at engaging young people across the region.
- Coordinating workshops, seminars, and other events designed to build awareness and promote action on disarmament and peace.
- Assisting with resource mobilization efforts to secure funding for ongoing and future projects.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in international relations, security, education, management, or a related field. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- A minimum of two years of experience in project or programme management, preferably with a focus on education or youth engagement.
- Knowledge of disarmament, arms control, and non-proliferation is highly desirable.
- Experience in resource mobilization and working with donors is a plus.
- Familiarity with Asia and the Pacific region is preferred.
